The classic Chicago brand known for its selection of meat and rap-based commercials in the ‘80s and ‘90s was thought to be gone forever after last year’s bankruptcy of the Moo & Oink grocery stores. Best Chicago Meat Co., LLC, purchased the Moo & Oink brand in Dec. of 2011 and is bringing the most popular items to grocery stores across the Chicagoland area, Northwest Indiana, and Michigan.

Twenty-eight of the most popular Moo and Oink food products will be re-introduced to Chicago and Northwest Indiana grocers at the annual Dutch Farms’ 2012 food show titled, “Recipe for Success,” from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at The Holiday Inn Convention Center, 18501 S. Harlem Ave., Tinley Park. The show is hosted for wholesale and retail customers only.
Best Chicago Meat Co. Buys Moo & Oink Brand – Jan, 2012
Best Chicago Meat Co., LLC, purchased Moo & Oink’s intellectual property at public auction for $530,000 on Dec. 14. The four Moo & Oink stores – three in Chicago and one in Hazel Crest - filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late September, 2011. Because there were no bidders on the real estate, the stores will remain closed. Purchased by Best Chicago Meat were Moo & Oink’s name, logo, characters, website, commercial jingle and perhaps most important – its recipes.
